Hiking in the Dolomites

There’s so much good hiking to be done in and around Val Gardena. The valley is very central, and the modern lifts run year-round, so our guests can take their pick from all sorts of hiking trails at a variety of levels of difficulty. If you’re looking to go a nice walk for a couple of hours, you’re spoiled for choice in the valley. Experienced hikers will also struggle to choose which of the day-long hiking routes in Val Gardena, the Puez-Odle nature reserve, around the Sella mountain range, and on the Alpe di Siusi to set off on. There are plenty of spots where you can take a break, too - cute little traditional huts offering regional specialties are peppered throughout the trails. All of the ingredients for the perfect day out hiking.

On two wheels through the Dolomites

Whether you like your two wheels on asphalt, gravel or trails, there’s something for you in Val Gardena. You can now tour the famous Sellaronda on asphalt, i.e. on the pass roads over the 4 passes, as well as by mountain bike with lift support and exciting trails. Of course, you can cycle the circuit clockwise or anticlockwise.
Mountain bikers can choose any of the 22 available tours, ranging from an easy pleasure ride to the fun Trail Arena Val Gardena.
There are a lot of places you can hire bikes from in Selva di Val Gardena: latest-generation mountain bikes, e-bikes and racing bikes are all available to make sure you have safe, comfortable fun. If you’ve never used an e-bike before, you should have a guide go with you, as technique is very important when mountain biking.
The Val Gardena Active Programme offers everything from cycling technique courses, pleasure cycling tours and a guided Sellaronda MTB TOUR - everything a cyclist could want!

Mountain climbing legend Reinhold Messner said that the Dolomites are the most beautiful mountains in the world, and when it comes to climbing these unique mountains got so much to choose from - vie ferrate, sport climbing or alpine-climbing tours. If you can climb it, it’s in Val Gardena and the Dolomites.
To find the right tour for you we recommend a visit to the Gardena Guides office next to the climbing centre on Piazza Nives in Selva di Val Gardena. Experienced mountain guides always know exactly what the lay of the land is at any time, and can recommend something suitable. Of course, guided tours are also available, and if you’re not sure whether climbing is your thing you can give it a go in the climbing centre beforehand.
